WAEC has introduced a new initiative, WASSCE PC1, allowing candidates to retake exams much sooner than before, eliminating the need to wait for the next private exam session. This development was announced by the Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, in a statement.

Felix Oluwaseun Agbesanwa, Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, Ogun State chapter, praised the initiative, describing it as a positive step forward.

Kapi explained that WASSCE PC1 provides students who need to improve their grades with a quicker opportunity. Candidates who discover the need to resit one or two subjects after accessing their WAEC results can register online via the WAEC website or accredited internet cafés by January 8, 2025. The exams will be held from January 24 to February 15, 2025.

To support candidates, WAEC plans to expedite the release of the chief examiners’ reports. Students whose results were canceled, provided they are not under a long-term ban for malpractice, are also eligible for this exam.

Currently, the exams will be conducted in regional capitals due to the smaller number of participants. Prospective candidates are urged to register before the January 8 deadline to take advantage of this opportunity.

WAEC expressed optimism that the new program will help students quickly enhance their grades and qualify for the next admission cycle, avoiding a year-long delay in their academic progress.
