FG Declares Monday Public Holiday
The Federal Government has announced that Monday, September 16th, 2024, will be observed as a public holiday in commemoration of Eid-ul-Mawlid, a significant Islamic festival marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
According to a statement released on Friday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the government congratulates Muslim Ummah both in Nigeria and in the Diaspora on this occasion.
Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary in the ministry, quoted Dr. Tunji-Ojo as urging Muslims and Nigerians to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience during this period. The Minister also encouraged them to pray for lasting peace and a more prosperous and egalitarian nation.
The statement reads: "While congratulating the Muslim Ummah on this occasion, the Minister implores them to use this opportunity to pray for enduring peace and a more prosperous and egalitarian nation."
