Ebonyi State Government Clamps Down on Fuel Stations for Malpractices

The Ebonyi State Government has shut down three petrol stations in Abakaliki—Edde Mass, R&C, and Dozi Oil & Gas—due to unethical practices such as meter tampering and under-dispensing. Mr. Nwafor Nnaemeka, Special Assistant to Governor Francis Nwifuru on Petroleum, revealed this decision while addressing the press.

Nnaemeka attributed recent fuel price hikes to global factors but warned local dealers against fraudulent activities. He assured that the government will continue to enforce penalties on fuel stations that fail to serve the public properly.

The government's task force, which has been actively monitoring the sector, is responsible for the closures. Nnaemeka also refuted claims of extortion by fake task force agents, affirming that only authorized personnel are conducting inspections. He stressed that the government will pursue legal action against those involved in fraudulent activities, aiming to restore integrity to the petroleum sector in Ebonyi State and ensure fair service for consumers.
