*BREAKING: Appeal Court Orders Former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello to Appear for Trial
The Court of Appeal has mandated that former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello must appear for arraignment, overturning a previous ruling by the Kogi State High Court.
This latest ruling from the Appeal Court prohibits Bello from taking any further steps concerning the charges against him until he has formally appeared in court.
Bello has been evading authorities since April 17th, when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) attempted to arrest him at his residence in Abuja. The arrest was thwarted by Governor Usman Ododo, who intervened during the EFCC raid.
Bello is currently being prosecuted by the EFCC on charges of allegedly misappropriating over N80 billion during his eight years as governor.
